https://titlematchnetwork.com/

Mission Pro Wrestling will still continue even with Thunder Rosa now in AEW full time. The company just bought a ring and trailer for themselves several days ago. This show is the first time the ring is being used. MPW had been renting one until now.

Tonight’s broadcast team will be Brittani Nikole and News 4 San Antonio’s Joe Galli. Sam Leterna is the ring announcer.

Robert Bayne, JP Harlow, Lady Bird Monroe, and Gigi Rey were the talent picked to have showcase matches on the card by Thunder Rosa from her training seminar that took place earlier today. The seminar was open to both women and men.

Abadon did a pic and autograph signing at the building but she was never scheduled to compete tonight.

MPW will hit the road for a show in Greensboro, North Carolina on 8/14/21.

There will be a MPW benefit show for the San Antonio Salvation Army on 8/20/21. Thunder Rosa and her family have volunteered for the chapter on occasions over the years.

In the interest of transparency, Joshi Sun-Times is one of the sponsors of MPW “Play Hard, Hustle Harder”. We don’t not have any input in the booking or production of the event, it’s only a sponsorship and advertising opportunity for us.

RESULTS-

Robert Bayne beat JP Harlow by referee stoppage with choke submission hold. Bayne’s manager Kaitlyn Alexis distracted the referee to lead to the finish. This was a special men’s showcase match.

Dani Mo pinned Kenzie Paige after a running springboard crossbody block from the top rope cable.

Dulce Tormenta and Madi Wrenkowski went to a Double Count Out with The Renegade Twins (Robyn and Charlette) as all four were brawling on the floor.

Skye Blue pinned Zoey Skye with a back bridging cover. Zoey Skye was formerly known as Angel Dust and Dust in RISE and SHIMMER. She’s held the RISE Title and RISE Tag Team Titles. She is a former Heart of SHIMMER Champion. She held the main title for the MPWA group in Michigan under the Zoey Skye name.

Intermission

Gigi Rey pinned Lady Bird Monroe after a back breaker on the knee in the special women’s showcase match.

Thunder Rosa beat Janai Kai by choke submission. Excellent match that had an intense mix of everything. Mat work, great exchanges, brawling on the outside, and lots of strikes and kicks. Rosa got on the mic and said Kai was the toughest challenge she’s had in a while. She said MPW is now self sufficient and thanked the fans for their support. She called out AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker and wants another title shot which got a big reaction from the crowd.

Jasmine Allure won a #1 con. MPW Title 3-Way Match over JennaCide and Vert Vixen by pinning JennaCide with a roll up and holding the tights. Allure came out with Ava Wilde and The Renegade Twins but the referee would only allow one person of the “alluring” stable to stay at ringside. The twins went to the back. Wilde got on the ring to try to interfere but fell to the floor after colliding into Vixen and JennaCide. JennaCide looked like she was about to pin Vixen when Allure scrambled back in the ring to steal the win. This was supposed to be a second round of a #1 con. Tournament with Alex Gracia vs. Allure and Vixen vs. JennaCide, but Gracia did not make it to the show. Allure had her own heel stable poster made up for the show.

MPW Champion La Rosa Negra pinned Holidead after the frog splash in an incredible match which earned a standing ovation. They were given lots of time. Negra did a torpedo dive on Holidead who was laid out in the front row. It looked amazing and it hit the target with no fans injured in the process. Holidead later grabbed her and swung her a couple of times into the concrete wall. Both are fan favorites so the crowd was split. After the match, Allure, The Renegade Twins, and Wilde came out to surround the ring. Madi Wrenkowski and Dulce Tormenta ran in to back Negra up. The heels didn’t attack and backed off.

The List Of Joshi Wrestlers With COVID-19 Continues Grow

It’s unfortunate and very disturbing that so many female pro wrestlers in Japan have tested positive for COVID-19 in just the past few days to the point that we keep getting more names added after we posted news on previous lists of names.

Maya Yukihi of Ice Ribbon tested positive on 7/28/21 but she is asymptomatic. She will miss the 7/31/21 and 8/1/21 shows. Those shows are still scheduled to go on as on now with 7/31 available to watch live on Nico pay-per-view. Yukihi will be quarantined until 8/7/21.

Madeline who works for Diana, Pro Wrestling WAVE, Ice Ribbon, and Pure-J was not feeling well on 7/28/21 and tested positive.

Legendary referee Tommy Ran tested positive as well but she is asymptomatic. Ran has been a referee since the early 1980s for numerous Joshi groups starting with All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling when she was a teenager. She had been wearing a plastic face shield while officiating matches for Marvelous and WAVE since the start of the virus pandemic.

Momo Tani, Makoto, Chikayo Nagashima, and Itsuki Aoki also all tested positive recently.

A few wrestlers are being pulled off of the OZ Academy and WAVE events on Sunday out of precaution after being in close contact to those who have tested positive.

A Few More Joshi Wrestlers Hit With COVID-19

Manami and Mika Iwata of Sendai Girls have tested positive for COVID-19. Both are experiencing mild symptoms. As a result, Sendai Girls has announced it is postponing the 8/14/21 show in Miyagi.

KAORU’s Injury Forces Postponement Of Her Retirement Event

KAORU was injured on the Marvelous show back on 7/19/21 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. It happened during a hardcore 6-man tag team match with her, ASUKA, and Chikayo Nagashima vs. Mikoto Shindo, Tomoko Watanabe, and Yuki Miyazaki. She was on a ladder that tipped over sending her to the floor in a bad bump. ASUKA pinned Shindo to win the match after a moonsault off the top of a ladder.

KAORU ended up suffering a fractured knee and ankle. She was scheduled to have surgery today (7/29/21) and is expected to be out of action possibly six months. Back in December, she announced that she would retire in August as this is her 35th Anniversary in pro wrestling. That 8/8/21 Marvelous show at Korakuen Hall will still go on as of now despite her injury and the ongoing virus pandemic. It will be a celebration of her anniversary and not the planned retirement match and ceremony (they will also celebrate the pro wrestling anniversaries of Chigusa Nagayo and Mikoto Shindo). She plans to make a comeback for a final match and have her retirement celebration at a later date.

She has had several bad injuries during her career including a broken femur, a broken heel, and a torn ACL.

Joshi Wrestlers Hit By COVID-19

There has been a serious surge of COVID-19 cases around the world over the last few days. Japanese pro wrestling is once again feeling the effects and it’s causing some companies to start to postpone shows while others are debating doing so all over again just like last year.

Ryo Mizumani is currently hospitalized  because of COVID-19. She had a fever and tested positive on 7/26/21. She has now started to develop pneumonia from it.

SEADLINNNG announced Nanae Takahashi and Honori Hana have COVID-19. Both tested positive on 7/26/21 as well,  but they are recovering at home. The rest of the roster was tested and tests came back negative.

Chelsea Green To Work NWA PPV, Pulls Out Of Indie Show

Chelsea Green will be part of the NWA Empower women’s pay-per-view on 8/28/21 in St. Louis, Missouri at Chase Park Plaza.

Green was in the middle of a bizarre situation over the weekend at the Hurricane Pro Wrestling show in Beaumont, Texas. She faced HPW Cruiserweight Champion Miranda Alize and they ended up going to a Double Disqualification when they both assaulted the referee. Texas indie regular Raychell Rose was in attendance but she was not booked on the card. She began heckling and taunting Alize and gave her a double middle finger in an attempt to provoke Alize. This was not an angle or part of any storyline. Rose and Alize have had heat over the years during their time on the Texas indie scene. Allegedly, Alize responded by throwing a drink at Rose during the course of the evening.

Rose was at the show with the promoter of the Texas based Renegade Wrestling Revolution group and at least one other individual. They were asked to leave because of causing a scene.

Ironically, Raychell Rose was scheduled to take on Chelsea Green in the main event of the Renegade Wrestling Revolution and Reality of Wrestling combined event on 8/27/21 in Texas City, Texas at Booker T’s World Gym Arena. Joshi Sun-Times was suddenly informed late last night by a few sources that Green has now pulled out of that show. It was being built all around her and it is titled “Too Hot To Handle” based on her “Hot Mess” nickname. As of this writing RWR, ROW, and Green have not made any public announcement yet.

The tournament will continue on 10/24/21. The the semifinals will be held on November 21 and December 19 is the  finals.

This could all be subject to change as the virus pandemic has once again increased cases of Covid-19 drastically in Japan in just the last few days.

Masha Slamovich pinned Dasha after a piledriver.

Tesha Price pinned Katalina Perez after a swinging full nelson face buster.

MPW Champion La Rosa Negra pinned KiLynn King after the frog splash.

The card was revamped a bit because Negra was originally supposed to face Heather Monroe in the main event but Monroe didn’t  make the show due to travel issues.

Women’s Wrestling Revolution + “Pain For Pleasure” Results 7/18/21

WWR+ “Pain For Pleasure” results from Worcester, Massachusetts, USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ at the White Eagle on 7/18/21 live on IWTV:

https://independentwrestling.tv/live/1

Rich Pallladino is the ring announcer. Paul Crockett and Alyssa Marino are the broadcast team.

Jody Threat pinned Ashley Vox after a Blue Thunder Bomb. Very good and strong opener. They started off chain wrestling a few minutes then went into some high flying and big impact stuff. Vox used the ropes to her advantage with head scissors and hurricanranas. Threat gave Vox a delayed suplex off the second rope. Delmi Exo was at ringside as The Sea Stars are both in singles action on the card.

Becca pinned Delmi Exo after her spin kick finisher. Becca came off the ropes with crossbody at one point in the match and hit Exo in the face awkwardly. It looked painful but Exo seemed fine afterwards. Higher Society came out to gloat about both Sea Stars losing. They told them to stick around to see how winning is done.

Molly McCoy and Boomer Hatfield beat Higher Society (Paris Van Dale and Armani Kayos) when McCoy submitted Van Dale to a grounded arm hold. The Sea Stars sat at ringside and stopped Higher Society from trying to cheat to win the match.

Veda Scott Open Challenge was answered by Hot Scoop Skylar. Skylar won by arm bar submission. The two were friends but Skylar attacked her from behind during the ring introductions. She destroyed Scott’s arm with a chair and worked it over most of the match. Scott fought heroically to where it looked like she could pull off an upset but got overpowered.

Rebecca Scott pinned Kayla Sparks after a snap DDT. Really good and intense match with a lot of story. It was Scott’s debut match, but she came off like a confident heel veteran, and it was Sparks’ first match back after 14 years. The fans chanted “Please Come Back” at Sparks. They worked very well together in a great debut for Scott.

Rickey Shane Page pinned Kennedi Copeland after catching her off the ropes in midair and planting her down for the pin. Good match with the story of Page manhandling her and her trying to find innovative and unorthodox ways to satellite around him.

Riley Shepard pinned Kaia McKenna after an Ushigoroshi. After the match, Little Mean Kathleen came to the ring to challenge Shepard to a ffuture match against her. Shepard agreed.

Tina San Antonio pinned Willow Nightingale with a roll up and what looked to be holding of the tights. Damien Adams was the special guest referee and he turned heel to help San Antonio win. He allowed San Antonio to use a chair but took it away from Nightingale when she grabbed it. When Willow had San Antonio covered for the potential win, Adams pretended like he hurt his knee so he didn’t have to make the count. He walked out of the ring with San Antonio and raised her hand to gloat.

Aug. 22 is the next date for WWR+ as part of a double header with AmericanRana. Masha Slamovich and Leyla Hirsch vs. Jordynne Grace and Kimber Lee was announced for the AR show.

Trish Adora pinned Ashley D'Amboise with a very athletic fold over bridging cover. Megan Bayne’s music hit before Adora could even finish her victory moment. Bayne came out with more servants than she had for the last show.

Megan Bayne pinned Davienne after her swinging slam finisher. Good match that once again showcased Bayne but made Davienne look like a strong suffering hero. Bayne gave her a powerslam, backbreaker over the knee, snap suplex, a Samoan Drop, and an atomic drop throughout the match but Davienne would not stay down.

Trish Adora came out to have a face off with Bayne. Adora finally had enough of the disrespect and they traded blows. The entire locker room ran out to separate them as the show went off the air.

Bayne comes off as a big indie star. She’s very convincing as the Amazon strong woman goddess character. Her entrance is a nice presentation with the servants. There are a few women to keep an eye on in WWR+ because you never know who might get signed by WWE, AEW, Impact, ROH, and MLW wanting new talent and playing “keep away” in the roster bidding wars.

Debbie Malenko Returned To Wrestling On 7/9/21, Full CWF Reloaded Results

It what should have been a far bigger story than it is so far, Debbie Malenko returned to in-ring action for a Florida group called “Championship Wrestling From Florida Reloaded” which is a homage to the old legendary “Cowboy” Luttrall and Eddie Graham pro wrestling territory. The event took place in Tampa, Florida, USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ at the Cuban Civic Center.

Malenko pinned Detroit native Marina Tucker after an Ace Crusher when Tucker tried to go high risk off the second rope. This apparently wasn’t a one-shot return, Joshi Sun-Times was told Malenko is accepting other bookings.

Malenko was trained by Boris Malenko in the late 1980s at the Malenko School Of Wrestling in Florida. She got started on the Florida indie scene and then made her way to Japan where she became a star. Most of her career was spent with All-Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling. Malenko suffered a severe leg injury in a freak accident on 3/11/93 at a AJW event as she and Sakie Hasegawa lost to Manami Toyota and Toshiyo Yamada. She retired due to the injury. The titles she held in her initial few years in the pro wrestling business were the AJW Championship and the Japanese Tag Team Titles (with Sakie Hasegawa).

In 2001, Malenko made a surprise brief return for Japan’s ARSION against Bionic J in an Exhibition Match. They went to the 5-minute time limit draw. She returned to Japan again in 2017 as part of Mariko Yoshida’s Retirement Show. The match saw Yoshida, Kyoko Inoue, and Takako Inoue defeating Malenko, Jaguar Yokota, and Kaoru Ito when Yoshida used the Spider Twist on Malenko for the win. Also in 2017, Malenko wrestled for a Florida group called Legendary Professional Wrestling and feuded with Roxy Rouge over their Women’s Title.

Andrew Anderson pinned Ray Beez after a Samoan Drop. After the match, Sullivan gave a Anderson a spike weapon and he wanted him to cut Beez with it. Security ran in and made the save for Beez but they got shoved around by Anderson.

Maika pinned Rina with her twisted powerslam finisher.. Fukigen Death and Konami out last. They attacked Lady C  with a chain at the start while the referee was distracted on the outside of the ring. Death and Konami won the match when Death pinned Lady C with a roll up in 15:47.

AZM and Momo Watanabe beat Starlight Kid and Ruaka when AZM pinned Ruaka with the AZUMI Sushi in 13:43. Chaotic closing minutes as the referee was distracted by Oedo Tai members on the ring as Ruaka tried to use an object from ringside as a weapon in the ring without success. Kid now wears a black mask and Oedo Tai colors after being forced to join the unit on the last pay-per-view.

Mina Shirakawa pinned Unagi Sayaka in the finals of the Future of STARDOM Title Tournament to win the vacant title after a draping DDT off the second rope and the Implant DDT in 14:43. They almost went to the time limit in a very exciting back and forth match between the Cosmic Angels partners (they are currently the Artists of STARDOM Champions with Tam Nakano). Shirakawa kicked out of the frog splash and Sayaka kicked out of the Thez Press in the last couple of minutes. Shirakawa cut a victory promo and said she will defend it as often as she can and hold it for all her worth. Sayaka said she wants to be the first challenger. Shirakawa agreed and said Cosmic Angels should go after the SWA Title too (currently held by Syuri). She wanted to shake Sayaka’s hand but Sayaka refused and left the ring in frustration.

Goddesses of STARDOM Tag Team Champions Giulia and Syuri beat Maya Iwatani and Koguma when Giulia pinned Koguma after a Northern Lights Bomb in 20:42. Giulia now has bright orange hair to match her gear. She cut a victory promo which upset Koguma to slap her and Syuri. They want to set a record of successful tag team titles defenses. Utami Hayashishita and Saya Kamitani will be the next challengers. Syuri talked about having the SWA Title too as Unagi Sayaka was shown on camera watching her from the ramp to tease a match between them.

They announced the Blocks for the 5-Star Grand Prix 2021 Tournament which starts on 7/31:

Blue Stars- Utami Hayashishita, Syuri, Tam Nakano, Saya Kamitani, Maika, AZM, Ruaka, Konami, Unagi Sayaka, and a yet to be named person. Red Stars- Giulia, Momo Watanabe, Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima, Starlight Kid,, NatsuPoi, Himeka, Koguma, Mina Shirakawa, and Mayu Iwatani.

Wonder of STARDOM Champion Tam Nakano pinned Saya Kamitani after the Violet Shooting followed up by the Twilight Dream in 22:27. After the match, Nakano congratulated Kamitani on winning this year’s Cinderella Tournament. She said it made Kamitani stronger but she’s not ready to defeat her for the Wonder Title just yet. She wanted to shake Kamitani’s hand but Kamitani refused and left the ring. Starlight Kid got in the ring showing an aggressive and arrogant side as if being part of Oedo Tai now is turning her heel. She challenged Nakano for the title and said she’s the only capable of beating her. She warned Nakano that she’s not the same person any more. Mina Shirakawa and Unagi Sayaka congratulated Nakano on the win and they all hugged in the ring.

World of STARDOM Champion Utami Hayashishita beat Natsuko Tora by doctors orders in an bizarre finish. Konami interfered and knocked Hayashishita off the ropes to the floor. All of Oedo Tai, including Starlight Kid, stomped on Hayashishita. Momo Watanabe made the save and fought off as many of Oedo Tai as she could. Tora put Hayashishita on a table on the floor and gave her a top rope splash through it. She followed up with a running diving foot stomp off the ring apron right on Hayashishita and it clearly looked like she twisted her leg doing it. Both women were down for a long time. STARDOM Executive Producer Rossy Ogawa and a doctor were at ringside and checked on them. Tora kept holding her leg and could not get up to continue. They referee called a time out to try to give her time to continue. Hayashishita finally got up and sat on the ring. The match was stopped as it was declared Tora could not complete due to injury. Tora got on the mic and said if her leg is broken she wants another member of Oedo Tai to be a new challenger. She ended up getting stretchered out. Hayashishita thanked the crowd for coming and said this wasn’t what she expected or how she wanted to win. She said Tora could face her again whenever she is able to return. Time of the match was 11:33.
